Clickarea of icons

Hi!

There is one annoying point to me about the icons.

To click on an icon in windows it’s ok the click anywhere in the bounding box of the icon.
To select an icon in haiku you have to click anywhere on the grafic.
Clicking in empty space in the bounding box doesn’t select the icon.

It annoys me every day. Is there some config to change this behaviour.

lg,

Hi mlueft,

There isn’t an option for that (and there shouldn’t be). I guess I wouldn’t mind Tracker watching the whole icon bounding box. At least I can’t think of a disadvantage of that at the moment. No idea about the implementation difficulty. Might be worth an enhancement ticket on the bugtracker.

Regards,
Humdinger.

I don’t see a problem with watching the whole icon bounding box, either. But I have a different issue with desktop icons, or rather with the labels. Some icon labels can get pretty long, but as far as I can tell, Haiku will always keep the text on a single line, and never switch to multiple lines. It’s not a big deal, but it can be rather irritating, especially if you’re trying to line up icons in a certain formation.

I’m not sure if there is a ticket for the bounding box enhancement but there is already a ticket for the file name enhancement: https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/8247

Good deal!
