BeOS R5 on ASUS EeePC 701

I have an old ASUS EeePC 701 laptop currently running Haiku R1 Alpha 3. For some reason I can’t boot Alpha 4 or 4.1 on it. The USB stick goes silent just before switching to the Desktop.
I was wondering if

  1. Anyone managed to install Haiku Aplha 4.1 on an ASUS EeePC 701.
  2. Has anyone managed to get BeOS R5 on this machine. Or at least Dano.

Did just that. Grabbed the most recent build but it still does not go past the boot screen. All the icons light up but then it just stays there for hours.

Look for safe mode options and fail safe video mode.

[ Boot using the CD ]

“To do so, press SHIFT before the CD begins to load. This will bring up the boot loader menu as seen in the following screenshot.”

For Haiku try nightly image.

Select Anyboot image.

I know that. I’m a long time BeOS user, I know all the tricks. The problem is that it won’t boot at all, VESA mode or not, ACPI disabled or not.

Maybe you can try to contact to someone that posted in the following link:

and check if someone had installed sucefully Alpha 4 in that laptop.

Besides that, had you tried a “post-Alpha 4.1” night image?

Good luck!
PD: sorry for my bad english

Hi. I found another tip:
In this thread, another user get installed Alpha 4.1, booting previously with an Alpha 3 USB:

Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, I’m going to try it today.

Tried it today, worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip!
