What software could i use for text chat? IRC?
We can’t do much about it especially for non-English contents unless relying on each HUG for translating contents to English and publishing them elsewhere.
There could be a solution but I don’t know how practical it might be.
That is hosting a HUG site on haiku-os.org.
Something like haiku-os.org/ithug or …/hug/italy or whatever.
There are many caveats, though: costs, permissions, custom domains, etc.
Would that help?
The website is hosted on netlify and generated from a github repository. So, extra pages can be added. All we need is someone to send a pull request on that website, or send us the pages to include.
In fact there is already a page dedicated to it: Community Links | Haiku Project
That will be only static content, however, so no forums or the like can be set up this way. But it can be a “landing point” for new user groups and make them easy to find, at least.
could it be something like auhug.haiku-os.org? subdomains seem to be the right amount of seperate.
To respond to @lelldorin’s concern, I was thinking of hosting an entire HUG website created with Jekyll or similar tools. Even if the HUG disbands the contents can be preserved.
