This has been reported fixed. At least others have reported success and if there are issues they should be fixed (even though it may take some time).
Hello ZX_
I’m running the latest revision of Haiku (hrev44584) native, on AMD hardware (Asus 990FX AM3+ Sabertooth) with the FX-4100 chip (4.1ghz).
Haiku works like a charm, and with sound.(Just not with AHCI mode, and with the on-chip ethernet controller, Realtek RTL8111/8168B)
Got it running on two (although I doubt the second is in use) AMD Radeon HD 5770’s, on my monitors native resolution (1920x1080) so it seems Radeon support is coming along nicely.
I was very surprised to see it working again, because after my last hardware upgrade (current) I could not get alpha 3 to boot, no matter what.
Seems some bugs have been fixed.
Did I mention it’s blazing fast?
My old motherboad, the 790FX by Asus MA79T Deluxe also worked like a charm, including the ethernet adapter and an 955 Black Edition CPU to boot!
I had some problems with booting from USB and having usb hdd drives mounted on AMD motherboards, but with the latest nightlies most of them work.
Hi zx_,
Haiku currently doesn’t use any 2D acceleration. Driver support results in working mode setting (getting the native resolution, in contrast to VESA where that’s not possible most of the time) and maybe hardware overlay and theoretically the use of vertical blank interrupts. Possibly also digital output over DVi in case of the Radeons etc…? Not sure.
Generally, due to kallisti5’s great work, a Radeon card should be on the top of your hardware wishlist (see these device IDs for a hint what should be supported).

Humdinger
Thanks a lot, I’ll be making AMD Haiky box then.
Also do you guys know if there will be 2d acceleration supported for AMD Radeon videocards in alpha 4 haiku?
Or this list I made
