Access Deskbar using Keyboard

Something that is rather annoying in BeOS is that I can’t access deskbar using ketboard. It will be more comfortable if you can press a combination of key, or even a special key (like Apple button in Mac, Windows Button in Windows, or Alt+F1 in KDE) to access.

 I hope that Haiku will add this feature (or has it been implemented?).

And one more thing, can’t we have at least one full screen terminal such as GNU/Linux? It is much nicer to see console apps in a ‘real’ text mode console, not on a GUI.

Pardon me if my request probably contradicts with curent Haiku development.

I think there’s a way to do that with SpicyKeys… at least, I remember looking into it a while back…

It’s probably more of a feature for OpenTracker than Haiku itself, as Haiku will probably be using OpenTracker for the Deskbar and Tracker components of the OS.

SpicyKeys literally just moved your mouse to where the button should be. If it wasn’t there, tough. Sander Stoks MenuKey works better but can be unreliable too.

I remember seeing some emails from jack burton somewhere on how to implement the key properly - there was talk of intercepting some key in the input server and having that open the menu. I agree it’s a useful feature.

As for full screen terminals, I’m not so sure.

yeh SpiceyKeys will do the trick … I think that SpiceyKeys is a must for BeOS - hopefully, it’ll be intergrated into Haiku as well (or something similar).

The “menu” key (between the Windows key and Ctrl) does it for me on OpenDeskbar since at least this summer (without SpicyKeys).

Although I have to say that SpicyKeys is much quicker than sorting through a menu.
